Cal State San Marcos
California State University, San
Marcos (also known as CSUSM or Cal State San Marcos) opened in 1990
as the 20th campus of the California State University system, the
first new campus in nearly 30 years. Today it is a rapidly growing
university located in San Marcos, a northern suburb of San Diego.
With an average rainfall of
10 inches per year and the average temperature range being a high of 77
degrees and a low of 47 degrees, San Marcos ? 12 miles from the Pacific
Ocean and in the direct path of an ocean breeze has beautiful weather on
a daily basis, accommodating almost any recreational pursuit.
San Marcos residents and visitors can take advantage of a wealth of
recreational opportunities, including water sports ? swimming, surfing,
water-skiing and boating ? just minutes away to the west of us at some
of the many fine public beaches.
Golf is played all year around on 22 golf courses within a 30-minute
drive of San Marcos. Three courses are located within the City of San
Marcos. Torrey Pines and LaCosta are among courses found in beautiful
San Diego County.
If tennis is your game, there are many first rate tennis courts to be

in North County. Deep-sea fishing is available from Oceanside Harbor and

north in the San Bernardino Mountains. California?s last frontier ? the
