Oceanside is a city
in northern San Diego County, California. As of the 2000 census, the city
had a population of 161,029. Together with Vista and Carlsbad, it makes up
the Tri-City area. The city is just south of Camp Pendleton, the largest
U.S. Marine Corps base in the world. The city was first encountered by
European explorers in 1769 and was incorporated on July 3, 1888.

Oceanside Museum of Art
is a cultural jewel located in downtown Oceanside with a view of the
Pacific Ocean and the historic Oceanside Pier.
The museum is housed in a classic Irving Gill designed building that
represents the flavor of Southern California in the 1930s. Providing
North San Diego County with a variety of programming that
compliments its progressive exhibition schedule, OMA presents five
provocative exhibits each year.

This San Diego beach has popular
campsites on a cliff overlooking the ocean. There are stairs
provided to access the secluded beach to swim, surf, skin dive, fish
or picnic. The beach is open to the public but there are no day-use
facilities. South Carlsbad State Beach is located at Poinsettia Lane
approximately 3 miles south of Carlsbad Inn Beach Resort and Hotel
on Carlsbad Boulevard.
